Thursday, October 12 as I was about to walk into my office, I was given some very sad news. We had just lost a very special person. Roberta Gerst was a member of our team for over eight years. She passed away suddenly, in her home a few hours before.
Anyone that came into contact with her got to love her. You couldnâ€™t help it. She was one of those very genuine people who called it like she saw it, never pulled punches; just let you know what she was thinking. Whether you liked it, or not. She almost always had a big smile on her face, and a funny, witty comment or crack. When you were having a tough day, she brightened it â€“ always. She loved being tough on the telemarketers trying to get through to me. She loved looking after and making sure â€˜the guysâ€™ in the warehouse or the trucks had just enough chocolate to get them through even the toughest day. And sometimes, on special birthdays she even made her world-famous Cannoli Cake.
Roberta was more than just a member of our team. She was like a part of the family: that mother, sister, aunt or cousin that took care of all the details for family get-togethers and celebrations. She made it nice for us. We already miss her. Roberta, hope you are resting in peace. God Bless.
