Rotating Back Up Tapes in 2017
Back-Up Tape Vaulting & Back-Up Tape Rotations are still one of the major ways to protect your data.
It's not enough to simply back up your data. Unless your data is also stored at a remote site, environmental or man-made disasters could put both your data and the continuity of your business in jeopardy. Experts in data storage agree that one of the 'greenest' approaches to storing vast amounts of legacy, historical, archival, and legally required data is via tape-Yes, via tape!
As the aspects surrounding the building in which tapes are stored is a top concern when evaluating tape options, below are the top three ways in which Lincoln Archives ensures the security of our tape storage facility.
1. No Markings: We take the security of our tape vaulting facility very seriously as we’ve implemented aspects to not only protect the tapes while they are inside the building but protect the awareness that any information is stored within the building. As there are no signs and/or marking on the building, unless you are one of our employees or a tape client, you wouldn’t know the building is owned by us and thus wouldn’t know that secure information is stored with the walls.
2. Parking Restrictions: In addition, our trucks abide by strict parking requirements of not being in front of the building for more than 15mins at a time.
3. Climate Controlled: As far as within the building itself, our climate controlled environment with very strict tolerances for temperature and humidity help to prolong the life of the tapes and our fire protection and physical security aspects aid in the overall protection.
More information on these services can be found on our Backup Tape Vaulting & Rotation and Long Term Data Archiving pages. Lincoln Archives is the ONLY Family Owned, LOCAL Company providing NAID AAA Certified document and data destruction services and is a proud member of Lincoln Family of Companies serving the Western New York Community since 1914.
