Thursday, October 12 as I was about to walk into my office, I was given some very sad news. We had just lost a very special person. Roberta Gerst was a member of our team for over eight years. She passed away suddenly, in her home a few hours before.
Anyone that came into contact with her got to love her. You couldn’t help it. She was one of those very genuine people who called it like she saw it, never pulled punches; just let you know what she was thinking. Whether you liked it, or not. She almost always had a big smile on her face, and a funny, witty comment or crack. When you were having a tough day, she brightened it – always. She loved being tough on the telemarketers trying to get through to me. She loved looking after and making sure ‘the guys’ in the warehouse or the trucks had just enough chocolate to get them through even the toughest day. And sometimes, on special birthdays she even made her world-famous Cannoli Cake.
Roberta was more than just a member of our team. She was like a part of the family: that mother, sister, aunt or cousin that took care of all the details for family get-togethers and celebrations. She made it nice for us. We already miss her. Roberta, hope you are resting in peace. God Bless.
